Fonseca 2000 Vintage Port

Inky purple colour. Complete nose, with impressive depth and background, displaying the concentrated and opulent fruitiness which is the hallmark of the Fonseca style.

The 2000 Fonseca exude finesse and focus on the nose, with pure blackberry, juniper berries, licorice and a touch of sloes, with a palate underpinned by very fine tannins, a sensual, svelte texture with wonderful acidity. The harmony and symmetry is alluring, the finish precise and demonstrating the persistency to suggest a long future ahead. Drink 2020-2060". Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate.

"The millennial Fonseca is still a young pup. It has rich blackberry, cassis and liquorice-scented nose with a touch of saddle-leather, fruitcake and earth. The palate has sensuous entry, beautifully integrated tannins, seamless and caressing with blackberry, black olive compote, fig and a touch of damson jam. Lovely sense of natural balance and poise but yet to shed its puppy fat. Quintessential Fonseca really."Neal Martin May 2009 – 95 points

Very bright colour, very single-minded nose. There's a lot of fruit but it's extremely focused at this stage. Intense - showing chocolate, tobacco, toasted wood - it's very charming and seems quite developed, being generous with the secondary flavours considering its age.Drink 2008-2038.
